2025 Yearly Editor's Picks

Wow! A grand way to start 2026 - and especially thank you very much for the selection! What a great honor to have an image chosen! As a former moderator, I respect and appreciate the effort that went in to making these selections! So thank you!

As has been the case ever since I’ve been with NPN, the images selected are outstanding. They are deserving of course, but what I think everyone knows and should recognize the amzing body of work that the entire NPN community produces; imagery that selecting just a few doesn’t do the entire body of work presented justice. So I believe everyone should be proud of the amazing work you’ve posted here on NPN!

I know personally I’ve been hit or miss the last couple years - mostly miss. 2025 was a health, mental, and motivational challenge, but I hope and plan to change that this year. I’m an all in or all out, on-off kinda guy. I hope to change that this year. We’ll see.

In the meantime, I still lurk and enjoy checking in frequently with what everyone is posting and doing. Keep up the fantastic work! And ditto to those recognizing David and the NPN team for all they’ve done. Thank you!

What a wonderful set of images everyone. I think all of these Editor’s Picks are well deserved!
And a big thanks to all of the moderators and to David for keeping everything here running so smoothly. Unfortunately I didn’t spend as much time on NPN in 2025 as I ought to have but I’ll really try to be more present here going forward.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, @Tony_Siciliano . I still consider myself a grand landscape photographer, and more and more I feel like a relic of the past. Not that I mind or particularly care. I actually find it amusing how often photographers claim that shooting intimate scenes is the best way to create unique and original work. While that may be technically true, there’s a certain irony in the fact that so many are doing the exact same thing, turning to intimate scenes in order to be different. It makes me wonder how many photographers genuinely enjoy shooting this way, and how many do it simply so they can say their work is one of a kind.

I’m so late here, but want to say how muchI am honored by being included in the final choices, and to add my thanks to the team, and to everyone whose participation makes NPN the special place it is. And a special nod to @Glenys_Passier – your work is always special!

May 2026 be a great year for everyone!

A very belated thank you to the entire NPN team for the honor of being included in the 2025 Yearly Editor’s Picks. It is greatly appreciated. I, also, think the special acknowledgment of the outstanding work by Glenys_Passier is well deserved. Thank you, all.

What a splendid set of images! Beautiful and very inspiring, as always happpens with NPN. Thanks to the editors for putting together this portfolio, and congratulations to the authors!

That’s a wonderful set of images - it must have been difficult to whittle down the selections since there’s a lot of lovely work posted here at NPN.

Thanks to the mods and David K. for keeping things running smoothly and giving us this platform.

And thanks for the recognition. Like some others, I haven’t been around much this year. I’ve resolved to participate more in 2026, as it’s our participation that gives life to the forum.

A great set of worthy images. Congratulations to all the honourees… and to the rest of us for turning up.
I am looking forward to more wildlife challenges in 2026 and will continue to share for the support, ideas and inspiration that the network gives me.

This is a really wonderful selection of photos (and much more interesting compared to the results of many photo competitions). Congratulations to all the winners!

Glenys, I think your well deserved recogniion, calls for a change in your profile where you have listed your skill level as “intermediate” . Either you need to upgrade it or I need to change my profile to “mere bumbling beginner”…at best. Congratulations!!!

I am a little late to the tread, but I would like to extend my congratulations to all of the honorees for the year 2025. It is most certainly a great body of work from so many talented photographers. I would also like to extend my thanks to all those photographers who participate in the forums; both by posting and commenting; as it makes NPN the most welcoming nature photography website out there. Also kudos to David for all the dedication and hard work you put into making NPN what it is today. One final shout out to all the moderators for your hard work as well. I hope everyone had a safe and joyous New Year and I hope 2026 brings everyone some great light.

I can see your point Tony, one can’t argue with the quality of the photos, but I was initially fairly disappointed with the subject matter. All three could have easily been in the Flora category. But after pondering on it for a bit I came to the conclusion that if you allow a wide variety of photo types in a category the judges either have to pick the best of the best on their own merits, or choose to pick representative subsets within the overall subject matter. And I guess I would rather see the judges go with quality over trying to represent every subset. You can then go to the Weekly Challenge winners and they are all more traditional “Landscape” images, even though the Weekly Challenge has a wide variety of subject matter.
