Abstract of Birch Trees Relefction on Frozen Pond

Image(s)

Image Description

Early Winter and the Birch Trees are still hanging on to some brown leaves. The way the trees reflected off the newly formed pond ice was just so beautiful! I had forgotten about this image til I came across it recently.

Feedback Requests

Is it too soft? I did add a soft filter to it in PP, albeit lightly. Too much saturation? Not enough? I’m just looking for your honest opinions and suggestions on improving this image.

Pertinent Technical Details

Taken about this time of year at DW Field Park in Brockton MA. The ice had formed but it was a thin layer. Th e birch trees were abstracted by the wind blowing through the wispy branches and over the pond

There aren’t a whole lot of rules on abstracts, Lori. I like this image as posted. It has an interesting composition and makes me wonder what is going on. Some of the brighter vertical lines make me think they’re icicles, though I know that’s not the case. Very well done.

Lori, this is very dramatic with its strong colors and mix of vertical and horizontal lines. Clearly you meant to push the brightness envelope and that works well here.

Agree with the thoughts above. I find it very pleasing to look at. Nice colors and a combination of warm and cool tones. For me, it offers a sense of warmth melting the cold. It could of course be rotated 180 for cold raining down on warmth.

No suggestions from me,
ML

Reflections such as this one are rare. I like this a lot. The warm/cool color palette works very well, and the image has a full range of tones.

Nicely done!

Great image! I find myself engaged with it for a long time, my eyes wandering here and there, appreciating nuances in the details and variations in the patterns. It’s mesmerizing. If my dentist hung this one on the ceiling, maybe I would mind getting my teeth cleaned :joy:. I particularly like the color combinations. As others mentioned, the warm-cool contrasts are delicious. I personally like the softness and saturation levels you chose.
