Anhinga nest

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

We visited a remote rookery in southern Louisiana that had predominantly great egret nests. We did see one anhinga nest which was exciting as I haven’t seen one before. At first we saw the female watching over the nestlings then the male came into feed.

Allen, how exciting that you got to experience an Anhinga nest with chicks! They are so fuzzy, and fun. I love the light, lucky that you had overcast light for this series. You were right to stay on this and keep photographing to capture moments, especially that last one of dad feeding them. Although that chick kinda merges with Dad, the others below it and the one off to the left tell the story. Well done!

Thanks Brenda! I was really excited for this opportunity. It was also great that the nest was largely unobstructed and I did little to no stick removal on these. A really fun experience.

Wow!! These are amazing, with a great view and wonderful light!! I had no idea what the chicks look like – surprising and wonderful! A perfect series!

Another lovely series, Allen. It looks as if those youngsters are getting big enough to pose a real danger to the parent’s throats, though I’m sure they’re built for it.

Terrific series, Allen. I have no suggestions.
