These images are all about colours - square crop seemed obvious one, as was dark background.
Do you mind the partially eaten leaves - has the processing helped the image ?
Here is a couple of less dramatic but equally beautiful images from today . Again comments about crop, processing and distractions please. Does it say late Summer Colours to you?
Huw, the original post has a fine set of colors. The crop fits the scene, although I’d like a bit more room at the bottom. The brighter bits angling in the background add nicely to the sense of motion.
Hi Huw, these definetly say late summer color. I think the last image #4 is my favorite, the color and detail along the edges of the leaves adds great texture. I also like #3 with the berry and orangish leaf. Shot #1’s crop is a bit tight for me but who am to say. Good for you, getting out and “photographing the less dramatic but equally beautiful.”
Our air has been so unhealthy that I haven’t been out on a photo walk for awhile and I miss it. Hopefully fall will bring clean air. I’m headed to Lapland with Alister Benn mid Sept so looking forward to that adventure.

Nice find, Huw, and well presented. I like the colors and the light in the first one, though would be tempted to remove some of the background elements. Like Alice, the fourth one is my favorite. I like the colorful leaves against the green background.
Sounds like a great trip. I’ve followed Alister on YouTube and enjoy his videos and approach to photography. Hope you’ll share some of your photos and experience with the NPN crowd.
A fine set of images, Huw. I personally prefer the second in the series, largely for the arrangement and the depth of field that puts the stars all if pretty clean focus. The main post with the green leaf in focus is interesting, but for my taste having the forward leaf go out of focus toward me doesn’t work as well as the second. The fourth is an utterly gorgeous composition, but once again I find myself wishing the tips of the leaves were in crisper focus-just personal taste there.
Huw: I like all three of the additional images but feel like the original is the weakest. Some of the sheen on the leaves makes me want to see a polarized version while I don’t see any distracting highlights on the other three. All three of the additional images are pretty darn good and I don’t have a strong preference for any one of them. Nice job working the theme so well.>=))>
I love the latest revision, Huw. You could pop the saturation a bit and probably get away with it for the challenge, but I like it with the natural colors as posted.
I like revision 1 the best by far. Revision 2 is a fine image but frankly depressing, just too dark for me. The original feels purposeless, as though it can’t exist without the theme.
