May 7-13, 2019
Starts late afternoon on the 7th and ends after breakfast on the 13th.
Limited to 10 participants with non-photographing guests and two instructors.
Limited to 12 if two participants share a cabin, and there is a discount for those who do this.
There are only 11 cabins, and one is for Margo and Arnie.
Based out of the French barge MS Raymonde.
Join us for Barging in Champagne Country where we will have full days of photography, enjoying the barge and the sights along the Marne-Rhine Canal, biking and walking along the tow paths, and imaging and critiques, as always.
Our barge is dedicated to our group, so we hae it all to ourselves. If 2018 is any indication, there will be lots of fun and frivolity, along with plenty of serious photography and stunning images.
We will be leaving from and returning to Paris. A bus will transport us to Epernay for the start of our adventure, enjoying the many sites along the Champagne Trail, and ending back in Paris.
For our excursions, we will either walk into town or be transported by our own bus. We will be following much of the famous Champagne route, with side trips to such places as Hautvilliers, birthplace of Champagne, Reims, with two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Château-Thierry, birthplace of Jean de La Fontaine, famous fabulist, and site of a Medieval castle with a commanding view of the Marne Valley, Meaux, famous for its brie, and of course, Paris. What we will see in Paris will differ from what we photograph during the Paris workshop. And yes, we will have tastings of Champagne the famous brie.
Our tag line is "Seek Your Own Vision, and Make Great Photos," and we mean it. Standing cheek by jowel with a gaggle of photographers is not the way to get unique images. Our goal is to help you find your vision and use age-old principles of art to make compelling images that tell your story. We stress aesthetics over techno-speak, and our daily critiques incorporate just that.
Margo and Arnie are world travelers who in their past lives, worked for the best of the best, LIFE, Time, GEO, Geographic, etc. and were hired by Fortune 500 corporations for their unique vision. Their work is in museums and collections world-wide. Let them help you take that next step in your photographic journey.
$5,000 for participants; $3,800 for non-photographing guests.
Includes cabin, port fees, transportation round-trip from Paris, all meals, all beverages, all excursions, tastings.
Not included are specialty wines or liquors, but we found that we were very happy with the choices on our 2018 barge adventure. Also not included are tips for barge crew, bus drivers, and guides.
