Description

Another view of my damselfly girl friend taken in the same session as Treading Lightly She kept coming back to this stick which was a pretty meh perch but I did like the BG of one of out succulents. >=))>

Specific Feedback

Was able to get pretty close with the 2x aboard. I’m pretty happy with the plane of focus. Your thoughts?

Hi Bill,
Its a nice closeup shot with fine details of the little bugger. Yes, its difficult to get the right plane of focus with these guys. Good definition of the wings and the front of the body.

You did a fine job capturing nice details from end to end, Bill. I wonder if those lighter places in the BG were toned down a bit so even more attention is on this little guy? Just a thought. I would be thrilled if I had captured this. Maybe I can get out there soon.

Bill, this is a fine catch. You’ve got excellent details throughout her body. She’s nicely lit against a colorful background. As with @Shirley_Freeman, I could see some burning-in of the brightest bits in the background, while recognizing that the bright, colorful background is adding a lot to the image. I’m thinking that this is a Blue-Front Dasher, we have these in MD also and they’re challenging because they like to hang out near or on the ground.

The plane of focus for the damselfly is pretty good and agree that darkening the light spots in the BG may strengthen the comp. Well done…Jim

Hi Bill,

This is lovely. The colors remind me of stained glass. The only bright spot that really grabs me as a distraction is the one in the upper right corner. I kind of like the perch. It’s unexpected, but it is also “meh” enough to not compete with the subject. And it is so woody that it plays a trick on my sense of scale.
