There’s a protected hilltop near me that has been allowed to go native. In the late summer/early fall, the native grasses start to turn color. This is a look into a stand of Big Bluestem as it adopts it’s fall (bronze) color. By zooming in, I meant to emphasize the variety of colors in the grass as summer turns to fall. By mid-fall, this grass will be a lovely reddish bronze.

As I pointed my camera at different locations, this view with a number of the “turkey feet” that are one of Big Bluestem’s characteristics both showed the grass character and the multiple colors as it goes to seed and into dormancy for the winter.

The colours you have found work very well together artistically,
The greens contrast the reds and the OOF background brown supports this very well.
The composition of primarily uprights means that the darker angular turkey feet stand out too.
I like the shape and size of the crop, the small circular seed heads dotted round pull the eye but they are part of the scene so I’m not suggesting you do anything about them. The brighter area 1/3 way in from the left serves as a break allowing access deeper into the image.
Very nice and restful picture of the autumn grass colour changes beginning.
Mark: I’ve enjoyed exploring this one searching for the sharp stems among the OOF BG. A scene most would ignore has given you a fine image. Frame filling fantastic. >=))>
Big kudos for selecting a subject that most of us would just walk over, Mark. I like the array of colors and I think you chose just the right size patch to fill the frame without losing or overemphasizing any one aspect of it.
