Very beautiful, Steve. I really like your composition and the placement of the bloom. I like the underwater stem as it helps close that side of the image a bit. The white streak and the thin white arc by the lower left petal feel a bit distracting to me and I don’t think they add anything to the image.

Thanks @Dennis_Plank
I must change the lighting near my computer, as the glare hides subtle details.
Thanks again for pointing this out as I did not see them.
Steve

I used black foam board, duct tape and sticky-back velcro to make hoods for my monitors.

Nice job on the repost. I like how the flower pops against the black background. I’d be tempted to remove the petal on the left; the other two act like leading lines to the flower.

Thanks @Dennis_Plank and @Allen_Brooks
I did a test print and ended up cloning out the root as in print; it was distracting.
But I agree on the screen it was a positive.

Interesting difference there. I can see that happening though.

Striking photo, Steve. For me, the redo is working better, except for the flower itself. The flower in the redo looks muddy (at least on screen, maybe the print is different). The flower in the original is really bright, but it doesn’t look blown on my screen.

Story-wise, I get the feeling that the little flower is setting off on its own for the first time. Leaving the nest, as it were.

Steve: I like the subject and comp a lot. One thing that I find curious is that in the redo the flower is darker but the pads are lighter. Not sure how that happened but if I could have the flower in the original and the pads in the repost it would work better for me. Still a marvelous find and a fine image. \>=))\>
