About This Image
I saw this white-tailed deer fawn in a field at the local state park. Mama was crossing the road and the fawn didn’t want to be left behind. Shot from vehicle.

Any comments appreciated.
I had to add room top and right. Any more needed?

Shots like this make me think they’re not vermin after all. Very cute and energetic! They are so fun at this age when they have some strength and length of leg to jump and run. That tail is very sweet all aloft like that and those pointy little hooves. Too bad they eat everything in sight. Great frozen action and I like the uniformity of the field with just a hint of yellow flowers.
Oh my Allen! This is so sweet. Love the action and the lovely pose. The yellow flowers put this one in the Bambi class. Colours look good. There could be another version with more space top and right?
I was surprised at @Kris_Smith 's comment about the deer being vermin. I thought they were native to the US.

Thank you for the comments!
Some people here don’t like the deer because they eat garden plants. My wife and I are pro deer though and always enjoy seeing them around the house and field. We don’t have a huge garden for them to eat though. They are native to the U.S.
Thanks again!
They’re vermin because there are WAY too many of them in almost every state. Between protecting the status of hunters by letting populations increase to the point of environmental collapse, reducing natural predators and paving over every square inch of land or turning it to agriculture - the populations are well out of control. Now we have an aging hunter population, low natural predators and more big ag than ever and so the deer are gaining ground every breeding cycle.
A group of foresters giving a presentation made this example - Wisconsin depends on sugar maples as a crop - almost every basketball court you see is sugar maple. - and lots of other uses. They are intensely shade tolerant and can take many decades to mature. Problem is deer eat seedling so fast that the amount of saplings to pole sized trees will not fill the need once the mature trees are harvested. That is happening with everything deer eat.
Ok, and on the protecting hunter status thing - here’s an example. Deer are routinely baited with corn and other things. The deer gather where they are fed. Wolves aren’t stupid and take the deer from those areas. The hunters now complain there are “no deer” and so we get a wolf season as a result. It’s complete and utter BS.
Ugh. I’m so sorry Allen. I’ll delete if you want. It’s a sweet image of an adorable thing, I just wish there were about 500,000 less of them here.
I guess the deer are not as much of a problem in my area that I know of anyway. Maybe I’m just ignorant of all the issues. They seemed to be managed effectively here but perhaps a bit overpopulated at the state park due to no or limited hunting there.
And, also, thinking more about it, the “deer problems” seem to be more man made.
Really love the action and the spots. I photograph fawns every spring and never get tired of them. Once they get a few weeks in they really start exploring their world. Thanks for sharing this beauty
You have caught the action very well - for 1/1000 sec , you have very good hands! I especially like the front legs stride / pose!
I would have liked to see a little more space to the right - direction of movement.
