Breaking the wall

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

During a city photo walk I left the group to focus on this bunch of moss seedlings. My idea was to altogether show its beauty, its strength and its ‘tinyness’. I was helped by the beauty of the backlight.

Specific Feedback

The extremely small DOF was a choice. I did not take other pictures with more DOF. Should I have?

Xavier, Very interesting subject and treatment. I would try for more DOF or focus stacking to bring out mor detail. The background is great - maybe get on the same plane as the subject so it is higher in the frame. Well done. Bill

Xavier: I love shallow DOF work and like what you were after here. It would work better for me if the focus point was in the center of the bloom instead of that one point on the right side. The BG and light are terrific and an intriguing and unconventional crop. >=))>
