Budding Constellation

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Our succulents have shrugged off the freeze of a couple of weeks ago and are starting to bloom again. This is the first flower to open. >=))>

Specific Feedback

I posted this in Macro since the opened flower is about 2/3 the size of a dime. I’m getting pretty comfortable with the new Macro lens and am finding using the 2x with it easier due to the greater working distance. The optical quality of the 2x is pretty impressive and I’m not sure I can detect any image degradation. This is not a pure stack but I focused on the center of the flower and the tips of the buds. Does that work for you? All comments welcome.

Very well done, Bill. The simple stack works nicely for me. I’m happy to hear that lens is working so well-I have my eyes on it when my ship comes in. Have you used it for extreme magnification yet?

Dennis: Starting to play with it some but positioning precisely is difficult and of course there is no way to hand hold at those extremes. I’ve actually tried and may get one out of ten shots that are barely acceptable. Somewhere in my closet I have a focusing rail stashed away. IF I can find it I may try to get in really tight on one of these little blooms.>=))>

Another nice image of your succulents. So glad they are okay after the cold weather. Also glad your new lens is working so well.

The blossom and buds are pretty, Bill. The craftsmanship is impressive.

Very impressive, Bill. My first thought was that the flower was a little to tight to the frame edges . The buds are lovely.

Bill, you and your succlents are making for many wonderful images. I’m especially attracted to the subtle colors and their warmth. Youre focus choice looks fine.

Hi Bill,
This is another wonderful presentation of the succulents in your garden. This one appears to be doing just fine after your freeze. The focus is just fine for my tastes as the important parts are tack sharp. My only suggestion; and this is being picky; would be just a bit more breathing room along the bottom edge. Very nicely done.
