The cropping looks fine, Dave, and I like the composition and head turn. It looks like you might have had some pretty harsh light as the area on the side of the rump and the yellow throat patch have both lost detail. as if they’d been overexposed.

Dave - great head-turn from this little one, and a view of some of the back.
That little area on it’s botoom that has lost detail, that Dennis mentions, could be burned a little so the lack of detail is less evident.

I certainly like the pose!
To me though, the red may be competing some - I would consider desaturating / perhaps even shaving a little off the bottom
