About This Image
It had just rained, wanted a delicate image , bit like an abstract painting, showing off the beauty of the plant.
I desaturated it a bit which I’m not sure about it, the WB/ colours in the original were a bit messed up.
Shot against a portable light box as background.
I was also playing with the idea that it could be an illustration I guess - don’t know if that comes across - or even if its a crazy idea?

Bit out of my comfort zone with these arty still life like images
Definitely eye-catching and it does remind me of botanical illustration in some ways, basically the anatomical presentation. The high-key and limited color palette works pretty well to up the drama. I bet this would make a good metal print. Years back there was another member who did a lot of work like this, but he disappeared and it looks like his website and instagram sites are shuttered. Nice to see something similar from you.
This is flat out gorgeous! The high key effect works beautifully for this image as does the subdued warm tones of the lily. I hope you try a few more of these even if they are out of your comfort zone as this is beautifully done. No suggestions from me.
I’d say it’s right in your strike zone. I like the more muted colors against the high key BG. It looks like an illustration and that’s what I like about it also.
Huw, it looks very much like a potential illustration although the water drops might preclude it being used in a flower book. It is a beauty, with lots of fine details in the flowers and buds.
Thanks @Mark_Seaver - that was the feeling I was after - I have the idea to invert it into a negative, print on acetate, and try it as a cyanotype - not got round to it yet … as my tribute to Anna Atkins, Botanist 1799–1871
Huw: You’ve really done this beauty justice. I find them very difficult to shoot in the wild because of messy BGs but your use of the lightbox solves the dilemma nicely. Well conceived and superbly presented.>=))>
