On my last trip to Bosque del Apache, I took some late afternoon shots of the ponds with the geese lifting off from more distant pools. This one turned out to be my favorite.

5DIII, 28-70 f2.8L @ 50 mm, tripod and ball head, f/11, 1/800, iso 800, manual exposure. Processed in LR & PS CC. All I really did to this was crop from the top and a touch from the bottom and apply a curves layer to the sky to bring out the geese a bit more. Taken at 3:32 pm on December 12, 2017.

Dennis, this is a very warm and inviting scene. It made me chuckle with the goose multitudes in the far distance adding so subtly to the scene in spite of their large numbers.

Now that’s small in the frame, Dennis! I had to go to the large version to tell if that was clouds or a flock of geese 😉
