Wonderful!! The leaf seems already to be a part of the wood. And the hint of the surrounding leaves elicit feelings of companionship and protection. The abstraction of the B/W treatment invite thoughts and feelings beyond the obvious. Very well seen and presented!
Nice! I like the silvery tones and the way you framed the central leaf with the scalloped edges of the surrounding leaves. For mood, I like your title - - I get an ephemeral feeling from the solid objects because of your processing that makes the leaf melt into the tree.
I’ll echo the thoughts of the others about this fine image. Normally I would like the leaf to stand out a little more by being a different tone, etc. But in this case that would go against the intent of your image. I could also see an isolation of the central leaf since the other leaves don’t quite have that silvery, metallic look that the leaf and wood have. Well done.
Really nicely seen and composed @Paul_Dileanis. I like the difference in tone and the way the wood has a few pits the echo the many divots in the leaf. The mono treatment works well here. Color is irrelevant. Texture and condition are key.
FWIW, I kind of like the adjacent leaves, but the lack of one on the lower right created an asymmetry that distracted me momentarily. My eye left the frame through that only exit. Michael’s crop addresses that, but I feel like I miss the context and the sense of this leaf being, like so many others, part of the future forest floor. It makes its smallness bigger. I also miss that one divot in the bark.
Any way you look at it though, you have a fantastic image. Maybe if there is a larger frame we can identify other crop options.
Hi Paul,
This is wonderful and definitely has an air of mystery about it; at least for me. The B&W conversion looks great and I am loving those silvery tones on the main leaf as well as the tree bark. So many textures and details to savor and enjoy in this intimate landscape! I also quite like the leaves in three of the corners. Beautifully done.
