Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I write and play my own music. That and my original photography are my main goals now at 73. I play this instrument for the tone and it gives me a different way to play other than the guitar. I decided to post this instrument and hope other Photographer/Players will like my image.

Specific Feedback

Just a grab shot one night in a writing session. I have an Image Video out using this instrument.
To have my images and music go together as one. Did I capture the unique vintage look here. That was the goal. The framing could have been better … But I like the top right trailing off and bottom left trailing off the frame.

Really nice lighting on this image, Gill, though I know nothing about musical instruments. I do like the geometrical patterns in the image.

Well done! You were really able to bring out all the different textures. I would like to see the lighting a bit more even across the lower portion. My eye goes right to that bright spot in the lower right, but where I want to go is to the resonator.

I have an National Estralita that I don’t play nearly enough. I was trying to peak in the sound hole to see what kind this was, but could not make it out. I assume it is a lap-style?

My favorite lap slide guitar player was Kelly Joe Phelps (R.I.P.):

Lovely image and equally lovely sounds! I never really appreciated the subtleties that can be evoked from one of these. The image does justice to the instrument!
