Eastern Reef Egret - Dark Grey Morph

I’ve recently posted the white form of this bird. These reef egrets are distinguished from other egrets in the area by their distinct short-legged appearance and noticeably thicker bill.

A pair of black and white.

A nice working pose with very interesting water and lovely feather detail. The blush of reddish color is a nice touch.

You have the best birds in Australia! The dark one looks a lot like our Little Blue Heron. And how neat to see the two of them together!

An interesting capture of a bird I’ve never seen before. Does look a bit like a Little Blue Heron that I’d see in North America. The palette of colors is very interesting.

Hi Glenys
You had me looking for a comparison between this Eastern Reef Egret and the Little Blue Heron. Very nice low angle shot in the first posting and the two in the tree are really cool looking. Than you for send us this Eastern Reef Egret.
