Environmental Deformity?

This male Housefinch visited my feeders yesterday. While I have seen deformities before, I have never seen anything like this. Possible tumor or facial cyst I assume. Man caused? Hard to know.

What technical feedback would you like if any? I just got my D500 back from the shop and this was taken as a jpeg so IQ could be better.

What artistic feedback would you like if any?

Any pertinent technical details:

Sure hated to see this little guy with such a deformity, David. I would think it would make it difficult for him to see out of his left eye, and make flying and landing a bit difficult. I have never seen anything like that before.

David, this is a very striking look at this deformity. Last year we had a Mule Deer buck with multiple large growths on his head and neck. Research suggested that those were from a viral infection and were not life threatening. In fact it looked like he was the dominant buck locally.

Interesting, David. I’ve never seen this either. Excellent shot.

An interesting shot. Somehow he seems otherwise healthy. Hope so.
