  • Vision and Purpose: Sandy, this is another one of your amazing captures in the life of birds.
  • Conceptual: I didn’t understand the “Face Wash” until you explained what was going on. There is so much detail around their faces and bills.
  • Emotional Impact and Mood: The power of parenting is evident here. The shape of the background between their necks almost forms a heart.
  • Balance and Visual Weight: There is enough background to support the visual weight of the birds.
  • Depth and Dimension: The out-of-focus background supports the detail of the birds.
  • Color: The red oranges are nicely complemented by the greens.
  • Lighting: The light falling on the adult gives importance and highlights the wonderful colors in the neck.

I am looking forward to more of your bird pictures.

Very nice image of an intimate moment, Sandy. The poor youngster almost looks moldy.

Great image - Monther and child images always remind me that creatures are not that different from us.
Really enjoyed seeing this image

A wonderful capture of these bizarre things!! Are you sure they aren’t hand puppets?? :upside_down_face:

The soft light is wonderful, as is the color and detail, with a perfect BG. My only thought is to darken the LR corner with a gradient to keep the viewer admiring those crazy faces. Super cool!!

Funny… I visited a place that does use hand-puppets to raise the Kings that are orphaned, and we used hand-puppets at the wildlife rehab place I volunteered at with the orphaned burrowing owls, and other birds. Very important they don’t imprint on humans, as you know
