About This Image

This photo was taken last week in Lapland Sweden where the fall color is in full display. The ground is covered with mosses and low vegetation, It’s like walking on a soft carpet. I felt like I was in a Japanese Garden rather than out in the natural landscape.

Lovely colors and textures here, Alice. I love the red heather in contrast to greens and the dark rock.

When I first opened the image, I honestly thought the dark rocks in the center was water.

Nicely done!

Thank you Preston

A lovely array of mosses, lichens and other vegetation, Alice. I love the rock background and how this much life and vibrance can spring from what looks like a very inhospitable terrain. The flow of colors across the image works quite well for my taste. Well done.

Beautiful shot, Alice! The red against the green is captivating and the mixture of textures make for a very lovely image! Gotta love fall!!!

Lovely well seen shot Alice
The reds steal the show - but nicely balanced by the whites on the left.

Textures are well reproduced

Very nice

A lovely composition, Alice. Some nice contrasts with the red and green and white and black. Interesting rock formation as well.

Alice, a fine “look at the ground”. The array of colors and type of moss and lichen look great. I also like how you’ve got an open circle of growth with the dark rocks filling in.

Alice: I’m going to be a bit of a contrarian in that it’s almost like you have two subjects that aren’t particularly well linked. For me the right side with all of the red is marvelous. The left side with the eye commanding whites tend to pull my eye. I do see a portrait comp of just the right side that suits me a bit better. Sorry to be a curmudgeon but I sometimes do that well.>=))>

Hi Bill, I appreciate your input and I like your crop. I may have to do another photo with the white, which I think is reindeer moss and not as common. Your a great curmudgeon so keep it up!!
