For some reason we have been inundated with LOTS of hummingbirds at our feeders. Check out this group (taken thru a glass window)

It seems to happen now and then, Dave. A number of years ago we had the same thing happen and had a difficult time keeping up. I did some research and the consensus was that if you counted the number of hummers you could see at one time and multiplied by five, that was a pretty good estimate of how many you really had. Another way is measuring how much nectar you’re going through. I don’t remember the daily consumption, but it’s fairly readily available.

This is a very nice image of the feeding frenzy that sometimes happens.
