### Weekly Challenge

Quiet Movement

11/1/26 - 11/7/26

**Critique Style:** In-Depth

The photographer is looking for deeper feedback connected to their intent, creative direction, and specific questions.

**Feedback Focus:** Artistic / Expressive

### About This Image

Normally I try to fix birds and flight with incredible clarity and sharpness. Here I tried to use a slow shutter to catch the feel of flight rather than just what the I can see.

### Why This Image?

I loved how the flow of the wings mashed as these two seagulls flew by in the fall

### What I’m Trying to Express or Explore

The flow a flight

### Where Feedback Would Help Most

Does the slow shutter work or should I stick to catching things with tack clearness

Michael, this is a wonderful example of flow and Quiet Movement . The background has a water color look about it that adds to the sense of movement. Thank you for sharing.

Michael, getting two birds together like this make a nicely unique view. My first, thought, was “straight from the DOD UFO collection”… 😆 It does look somewhat like someone on a jet ski. The colors both in the birds and in the background add a lot to the view. As I look longer, I finally see the two birds heads, beaks, and eyes…

Thank you both for the feedback. I’ll continue to struggle with these.

Hi @michael9

Very nice slow shutter shot - out of interest how long was it?
I love the colours, soft treatment, the BG colour change as an horizon
Very nice composition. I dont think it needs changing 0- just printing and hanging!

Regards

Intriguing! I think catching the movement in this way creates wonderful flowing images, and the colors of this one are beautiful. I personally love these blurred images. What makes me hesitant about this one, is the “double image” of the bird with the lines connecting the two. Somehow reminded me of old cartoons where Duffy Duck (for example) passes away and his soul emerges from the body…

This is gorgeous, Michael. The two colored background that’s so nicely blurred by your pan and the two gulls make a wonderful composition. And you’re right-the wings are in perfect position to complement one another. A very fine interpretation of motion and flight.
