Very nice abstract image. I’ve always wanted to go to Greenland and on my trip to Iceland, I have flown over Greenland and have been amazed at what I have seen. In this image that you have posted, I like the shapes and the colors. Very well seen.

A lovely ice abstract, Laura. I really like the gentle curves and the way they intersect.

Super nice image. I like the balance of the visual weight of the light right side and the darker left. If almost feels like a battle. The thinner lines throughout add a sense of texture and which also offsets the right side. Really nicely seen and captured!

Laura, this is a great ice view. I like the overall blueness, the mix of sizes and shapes and the strong sense of depth.

Beautiful, Laura. I love the color palette, the pureness of it. It feels so liquid and solid and cold. Interestingly, I normally like a tighter crop for abstracts, but this one really works for me in the vertical composition. I feel like the ice goes on forever here, which adds to the appeal of the image.

I love this for the curves and variety of blues. If rotated to a landscape format, there is an interesting face; but this distracts perhaps, so your vertical is better.

Thanks David. The terrain is absolutely stunning. You need to make a trip there for sure.

Hi Dennis
Really appreciate the encouraging words. I love ice abstracts:)

Very nice, Laura. You have captured some really cool shapes and colors. Nicely done!

Thanks for your kind words.

Laura: Flow indeed and perhaps even Moody Blues. (I fear I’m dating myself) Well composed and very nicely captured. :+1: :+1:>=))>

I guess it dates me too:joy: Thanks for the encouragement.

It’s a beautiful abstract. You were right to be captivated by the shapes and tonal contrasts. I would maybe bring up the exposure just a tad and see how it feels. It’s really well seen and composed!

Abstract work like this isn’t something I naturally lean towards, but this does draw me in. At first glance it feels like flowing smoke or ink blending together, and it’s only on closer look that the frozen detail becomes clear, which adds to the interest.

The shapes and tones work well, with a nice balance between the lighter ice and the darker areas beneath. The portrait crop suits it, giving it a sense of flow through the frame. It does feel like something that could translate well into a series as well, perhaps split or presented as multiple panels.

Overall, a really engaging abstract with strong visual appeal and a sense of curiosity that keeps you looking.

Thanks for your suggestion and for the encouragement.

In fact Matthew, I did create a series of abstract images from the iceberg and glacier images:) I also experimented with different collage arrangements. I was fascinated: each iceberg is unique in shape, colour, mood, texture… and ethereal, shaped by wind, the currents, and the sun. You should visit this part of the world.

I never saw the battle emerging:) I was studying the ground because we were hiking up some steep trails. Just happened to stumble on this one.

Terrific image Laura! It looks like frozen version of a lava lamp. The range of brightness to darkness and variation from opaque to almost clear ice making it visually very interesting and holds the eye.
