Four Green Frogs

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

On one of the first very warm spring days, the Green Frogs in my pond were enjoying the sunshine and warmth. I was surprised to see this cluster of four of the largest sitting together, surrounded by water iris. In addition to this group, I counted seven smaller Green Frogs sitting at other places beside the pond.

Specific Feedback

This is a ten shot stack, taken when I couldn’t get all four sharp even at f/22. Later in the year, these frogs won’t hang out together, so the group suprised me, which is why I made the photo.

Technical Details

R5, 100-500 @3 63, 1/160 s, f/11, iso 800, tripod.

Most cool, Mark, though it looks as if the top one is breaking the dress code. Amazing to get all four to hold still for this. Did you use the focus bracketing feature?

Oh! This is great! Froggies are so cool.

To find four frogs, and stack them; priceless! I have four ponds, and the frogs are scarce. Maybe they are trying to compete with the very numerous cane toads.

All the frogs have made eye contact with you. I like seeing the habitat and looking through the water.

Yes, I use the built in focus adjustment. I tested it when I first got the camera and found that the setting it came with (3) works well…I tried 5 and the focus overlap was noticeably reduced. Yes, I’m hoping that I can use the dark color to track at least that one frog.

Glennie, I got a kick out of needing to shoot a stack because they were pretty close to being stacked themselves.
