Frozen impressionism

Image(s)

Image Description

Autumn leaves lying frozen in a bird bath. The bird bath was situated underneath crab apple trees in the garden. The leaves are illuminated by dappled sunlight. The colours appear to be enhanced by light piercing the icy exterior.
This image felt like an impressionist painting created by the use of a slow shutter.

Is the black decay spot a distraction that should be removed? I love the bright colours but wonder if the red/orange is too intense?

Diny, this does look like an impressionist painting, with a fine collection of colors. I would strongly dodge the dark spot at the bottom so that it better fits the luminosity of the rest of the view. It’s my belief that with abstracts, since we’ve removed shape and place as recognition elements, that brightness, color, and contrast become the main drivers of where the viewer focuses their attention.

Diny: I’m actually OK with the dark spot as is but dodging it would work too. I think this is very well seen, captured and presented. Nicely done. >=))>

Thank you for your comments Mark. I will revisit the dark area as it does indeed drag one’s attention away from the rest of the image.

Thank you Bill. I shall dodge the dark are and see if it works ie less of a distraction from the rest of the image.

It definitely looks like an impressionist painting. I kinda like the dark spot, to me it gives your eyes a place to rest and then check out the rest of the image. Bob Engle

Diny, I prefer this as it is. The dark area does not bother me. It would be interesting to see how the image changes if that spot were brought up some. I love the color palette and the somewhat subdued light.

Nicely done!
