Harlequin Duck drake

On a stream in central Iceland. Cloudy. I removed the midges and there were lots of them.

Another nice bird-in-the-waves image, David. It looks like the focus was on the body rather than the head, but the head is still acceptably sharp.

I think you have a fine image here. Focus looks just fine to me.

I do think the image feels a bit lacking in contrast. I pulled it into PS and did a little selective work to increase contrast on the bird, and darken the overall background a little. A little camera raw filter to add a touch of texture and a very small amount of dehaze. Here’s the result.

An unusual and interesting setting that works very well. I like @Keith_Bauer’s tweaks.

Thanks Keith, I knew the image was flat. Your changes made a huge difference,

Hi David
Interesting framing, it is always nice to look at photograph and gain knew perspective. I agree with Keith on the contracts.

Hi David

Keith’s edits are spot on. I was looking at this one earlier and thought about boosting the contrast. This one will give you a fine print and the overall image gives us the impression that harlequin ducks can handle some rough water. Well done…Jim
