Z8, Nikon 180-600mm & 1.4ext, f9, 840mm, 1/2000, ISO 800, cropped and processed (color corrected) in DXO PhotoLab 9.
Nice to get one headed towards you, Peter. My preference would be for the second one showing more of the underwing and the tail. Nice light and good exposure for the underwing.
I think they do that, Peter. We had a juvenile sitting on it’s nest and yelling it’s head off for a week last month after mom and dad told it it was on it’s own and had better learn to fish. Hopefully it did so. Nice job on the detail and exposure of this bird. It’s really hard to get some light on the bottom of these without blowing out the top of the head.
Nice poses Peter. Well caught with a head on view. I think I like the second one best too for the reason Allen mentioned. Nice details throughout.

Great shots! Hard to pick between the two, but ultimately I like the 2nd one better as well due mostly to the presence of the tail. I do like the perplexing look of the osprey in the first frame.
