Very nice find!! I get a slightly creepy vibe, the way the roots are reaching for what might be a possibility of water. I wondered about a crop of about the bottom third but when I held up my hand I saw how important the bottom is to make the gesture of the roots feel so futile. Very well seen and presented!!

This is really nice, Don. I love the way the cluster of roots leads to the erosion path that continues the theme down the frame. Very well seen and executed.
Thanks, Dennis. I saw a reverse-S curve here and emphasized it by dodging and burnng.
That contrast between the revers S curve and the surrounding earth is crtical to the scene. To my eye, there could be a tish more micro-contrast in the roots and rock, but then again, that might draw our attention to the details rather than the line and the elemental contrast (plant v. rock).
Very nicely seen, and I agree with Diane that the rocks are important for showing how far those roots would have to reach to get to their goal.

I like this very much. I think the composition is really good. I like how movement flows from the branch to the gully. I might add a small tonal gradient at the bottom to keep the eyes from exiting the image at the bottom.
