What changed: Thank you all for taking time to make suggestions. I have made a few changes including reducing and darkening the foreground. To me, the story of this scene is the fog. That is why I left the sky alone except to add a tiny bit of brightness. I widened the left side with the Photoshop Generative Expand feature. This will give some room for the mat. I also darkened the small house on the left…I did not notice how bright it was in comparison to the other houses. Great suggestions!

I was pleased to come upon this scene in my first few minutes after l walked on to Monhegan Island in Maine. I liked the matching grey & white cottages that melted into the fog at the top of the hill. The scene reveals many precious summer retreats and island weather.

What a lovely scene for a hot dry day where I am just now!! I think you showed the atmosphere very well. Only a minor nit in that the cottage on the left edge pulls my eye a bit with its brightness. Maybe tone it down a bit? And for me, there is a bit more sky than I feel I need. I’d consider cropping about 1/3 of it, which I think gives more emphasis to the interesting and well-arranged houses. But lovely in any case!!
I think the mood is perfect. I really get the sense of quiet. I agree with Diane int that there is plenty of sky and too me, also enough foreground. I am wondering if a 16x9 6crop may still give the same effect ..

Definitely a wonderfully serene and quiet image. I was wondering if it was New England, and Maine it is. The architecture gave it away, though initially I thought perhaps Maryland or Delaware. It looked so humid!
I think a very slight crop off the top might be a good idea. There is a lot of space up there, and that space also communicates the atmosphere. For some reason, the crop tool wasn’t working for me today, but I suppose that’s easy enough for you to play around with if you are rethinking the crop.
I’m wondering about that house on the left edge. It could be darkened or even made more hazy somehow. There as the building along ridge at the left edge doesn’t feel like a distraction. That one, because it’s set apart from the others and starkly white, does catch the eye. Of course, I’m sure the owners love it just as it is.
Ann, it’s a beautiful location and you’ve captured very well the mood. The meadow must be an enjoyable place for a daily walk all year round. Your image inspires my imagination about different times of day and year.
Like others, I would cropp some sky. The cottage on the left is a bit too luminous. Decreasing its luminosity or adding some haze around may help.
Quintessential Maine. The only little things I would do to maybe improve this lovely shot, would be to crop a little off the sky and clone out that little eye catching bright flower/grass in the LRC.
Including all of the cottage on the left has removed by objections to its brightness. I didn’t mind the FG but I think you have a nicely improved version in the RP! Best wishes for success with the show!
