This lake is shrinking so quickly into small pond size that the Oriental Lesser Emperors were laying their eggs where they could find sites as far from the shore as possible. Just once they came quite close to me and I was able to catch them ovipositing. The pond skater is a curious by-stander.
Mike, this is a great shot, so sharp showing all the details, plus a reflection. Excellent capture.
I think I agree with Huw that the blue is a bit strong.

Mike: Judging from your techs you were able to get reasonably close and get the plane of focus just right. Terrific action and I suppose they were a little too preoccupied to pay you much attention. Great job taking advantage of a special opportunity. >=))>
Mike, this is an excellent photo that speaks to more than just the egg laying behavior. The specks of plants, the reflections and the mix of blue and green tones let this stand out.
Great shot, Mike! I love the innocent bystander as a special detail! Nice moment, beautiful sharpness and the ideal DOF to get the reflection of the wings sharp as well.
