Mallard Color issue

What technical feedback would you like if any?

Color looks off but I can’t seem to nail it down.

What artistic feedback would you like if any?

Any pertinent technical details:

ISO 400, 1/800 f8 with +.7 exposure, 200mm

I like the composition and the wing/body position. Difficult to tell whether this is a slight white balance issue or just the way the plumage on the head is diffracted by the sunlight. The exposure seems to be quite good with respect to shaded and unshaded plumage. You might be able to cut back on the orange saturation individually in Adobe camera raw. I think a faster shutter speed and higher iso would also be beneficial. Not sure what camera you were using. In general a little more technical information; handhelds, camera type, use of tripod, use of flash, percent of full frame, is useful in judging an image. Of course everybody has their own idea as to requirements.

I am not sure that the color is really off or not. I do like your composition and the pose you captured. Many of our local mallards really do have those bright orange legs/feet.

I think the color issue is just the angle of the light, Greg. The image as a whole seems to have “proper” color balance. I really like the flight pose in this one.
