I spend a lot on the Back Hall River in Old Lyme, CT. These wetlands give you a change to photograph Osprey, Eagles, Heron, Little and Great Egrets. I liked the head on shot of this Great Egret. The shot is cropped by 50% and I adjusted the hightlights and clarity in Lightroom 6.

Nice incoming pose. I might try just a little additional sharpening. Consider removing the bright white blobs in the lower right as they pull the eye away from your subject.

A very unusual angle for this species, Peter. I like that. I agree with Dave about removing the out of focus birds from the lower right. The face looks sharp to my eye. I think a little more light on the face and beak would be an improvement as the bright neck and shoulders tend to draw my eye toward them rather than the face.
