Critique Style Requested: Standard
The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
It was a day with very high waves on the Big Island of Hawaii. I chose to convert the image to
Black and White to emphasize the relationship between the Lava Shore and the Ocean.
Specific Feedback
I do not have a specific request, just that I have been going back to Black and White images more
because I like the texture and depth it can show. It brings me back to my old darkroom days.

You did a great job with the motion in the water, here, Mike. Smooth yet still having texture. The scene has good impact overall, yet you might want to bring up the darker areas with a shadow adjustment. Just a little though, you don’t want to flatten the contrast too much. You might also bring down the highlights on the light ‘wet?’ rocks in center right and upper right. But perhaps if you first adjust the darker areas a tad, the balance of those lighter areas may work just fine.

Thank you for your input. I was going back and forth on how to treat the wet rocks. I will take a look at the image again and try your suggestions.
