Some time in the past, these boulders were lodged in this canyon shelf by the actions of a flash flood, possibly the same flood, perhaps different floods at different times. I imagined them as two companions sitting together observing the passage of time.

Is my impression described above effectively conveyed by this photo? Is the composition balanced and pleasing to the eye?
Great title. It certainly looks like these two boulders are carrying the weight of the world. How did they get lodged this way? Is it because of erosion on either side? Arches and canyons are such interesting subjects; one could almost taste the grit on the hands and in the mouth:)
What a great catch and fabulous nature story. Ya know, flash flooding didn’t immediately come to mind and so the mystery of how this scene came to be is quite fascinating. Of course the flooding makes perfect sense.

Robert: A terrific find indeed. My first irreverent thought was, “caught between a rock and a hard place.” I like that there is little sense of scale. These could be boulders or pebbles or gravel size. How large were these? Whatever, a very fine subject and capture.>=))>
