Osprey in flight

I am relatively new at trying to photograph birds in flight. This photo was taken at Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge in Chatham, MA. I used a Tamron 100-400 lens which for me is pretty heavy when I can’t stabilize it against myself or something else which is why it is not perfectly sharp but I was still pretty happy to get it at all LOL. I did not take the tripod because I walked at Monomoy for about 3 hours and did not want to carry it. I took about 10 shots beginning when I saw him coming my way but this one and one other were the only ones even close to being in focus. If anyone is wondering - ISO 400, f5.6, 1/2500.
It was good practice and I really enjoyed myself:)

Welcome to the NPN community. Photographing birds in flight is challenging, no doubt. I am terrible at it, but many of the members here are quite experienced. So, IMO, just keep shooting, practicing, learning and reading comments here at NPN. . . and keep submitting. Looking forward to more images.

Thank you Linda. I do find birds in flight a challenge but that’s a good thing.
Thanks for the encouragement.
