Description

I was going nuts getting shots of this handsome buck that was trying to get the attention of a lady (not pictured) when along came a flock of turkeys. I managed this shot of one of the turkeys near the buck. It was a peaceful coexistence (including me). None of this gets hunted here, and I think they know it…

Specific Feedback

Cropping, including part of the turkey being missing. I was too close to be able to get all of both of them in, and I was NOT going to cut of any of that magnificent rack… Should I have made it a vertical crop by removing some LH?

I re-cropped it and I think I like it better. You?

Hi, Dave - this is a fun capture! Getting them together and both in decent focus was neat. A little selective sharpening to the turkey’s head would help. Beautiful buck and typical turkey pose and both looking the same way.
I like your tighter crop, too -
really sweet image!

Great shot! I’m sort of surprised to see the turkey so comfortable around the buck. Got the eye on both of them and even a catch light in the bucks’ eye. Love the background. Maybe it is my eyes, but is the turkey’s head a little out of focus? If so, could you sharpen it a little?
