As all things should be…

Nah but seriously I’m really happy with this comp. I feel it’s equally weighted across the frame in tone and colour. This is one of those shots when you just walk around the corner of the stream and the light is perfect and you can see the comp before you’ve even got your camera out.

Focus stack of two shots at 16mm, f8 and 1/3"

Great lighting and comp, Michael; interesting that you left the fg trunk oof.

Thanks @Ian_Wolfenden, it actually wasn’t my intention to leave it oof. I shot maybe 9-10 frames focussed at different points throughout the scene but I was unable to successfully blend them in post. in the frames focussed on the background, the immediate foreground was so out of focus the bokeh ‘grew’, much like a point light source turns to big bokeh balls when thrown out of focus. The ‘growth’ of the log in the background focussed frames made it impossible to stack because it literally took up more space.

I didn’t consider this when in the field but from now on will shoot a single additional frame at f22 focussed somewhere in between and use the at ‘fill in the gaps’ in post.
