Description
Phalaenopsis schilleriana is an orchid species from SE Asia and is the parent for many lavender phalaenopsis produced by orchid hybridizers. I usually avoid Phalaenopsis at orchid shows, but felt that a tight close-up of the central region of the flower might be interesting for photography.

Z9 200mm f4 Micro (1/60 sec at f16, ISO 125, 3 flashes for fill, 15 image stack PMax) Levels, Crop and Rotation for Comp, rubber stamp tool for OOF petal removal in lower RH corner, Curves adjustment for contrast.
The comp and overall exposure are just right for me. This is beautiful. I also love close ups of orchids where I always see some strange being looking back at me.
What I love about this image is that it asks the question “what else is it?” and I find so many possibilities here - a mermaid, a shrine to some magical botanical deity, a butterfly enveloped in cotton puffs, to name a few. Composing, shooting, and editing an image like this is not easy!
I like the composition and the crop orientation as well. Lighting shows off the creamy texture of the petals (?) and makes the colors just dreamy the way the shades of lavender change from one part to another. The center really pops as well. Super job as always.
