Yes! You have some interesting detail in the trunks, the foliage and the ground, with a good hint of the distance, which is easy to lose in ICMs. I love the light and the subject!

This looks like it is raining light!

Don’t change a thing. It all works.

Diane, Preston, thanks.

Hi Don,

I totally agree with @Preston_Birdwell as this does look like it is raining light. The color palette with the greens of the forest floor and the yellows of the leaves make for a wonderful color combination. I also find the soft light to be exquisite and I am loving the downward movement with the ICM. Beautifully done!

Very unusual and effective ICM - definitely raining light
Amazing
No suggestions

Don, the mix of light and dark with various colors is striking. This is a great ICM. I second @Preston_Birdwell’s comment about “raining light”.

Ed, Huw, Mark, I appreciate the comments. ICMs can vary a lot depending on shutter speed. I used a relatively fast one here.

Definitely holds mine, Don. A beautiful piece of ICM work. The light in this image is just beautiful.

Don,

Ditto on the “raining light” theme. Nicely handled motion with this ICM. The brilliance of the highlighted leaves are very engaging. Processing excellent as well.

I’m suggesting a small crop more as an alternative look rather than trying to “fix” something. Although part of the reasoning is to remove the reddish colors along the bottom; which, maybe you like or anchors the comp. Anyway, just a thought.

Excellent ICM Don!

Visual Notes

[Crop] somewhat simplified, YMMV

I love this image you’ve created here Don. ICM isn’t easy to get right, but you’ve gotten it done with this one. I like the lighter yellow and orange tones at the top and bottom with the darker green tone in the middle. The painterly look is also very effective. Great job.

Dennis, Ted, thanks.

Lon, I was unsettled about the crop and I think you’ve convinced me.

The original poster added a revised version of their image.

I’m late to the game but I’m going to comment anyway because i love this image. The light and dark contrast captures my eye, draws me into the photo and keeps my interest.. ICM’s are not as easy as they look and you have a winner here

I’ve been camping, so I’m late to the party here. Wonderful image, definitely raining light. I like the new crop too. That left edge was the only nit I had.

Nicely done!

Don I’m late to the party here but I viewed this image when you uploaded it and love it. I’m really attracted to the abstract quality while being able to recognize what I’m looking out. In fact, I found this image to be very inspiring as I immediately grabbed my little X-E5 and started experimenting. Interesting technique that I’m going to continue to play around with. Wonderful image, I wouldn’t suggest anything beyond what you have done.

This is a marvelous image. I’m not an ICM guy but this stands out. The revisional crop takes to another level.

Very unique “rainng light effect”

Thanks for the editor’s pick.

I’ve been away from NPN for a while - what a treat this image is on my return. The ICM is perfect as you have retained the realism in the trees while focusing the ICM on the other areas. The light is amazing. I prefer your revised version, but it’s super in either case. I wonder if the blue in the image should be removed - the blue streaks next to the trees. Thanks, Don for this wonderful ICM.
