What changed: Decreased the burn in the LRC as suggested. Also added just a little dodging in that area. I removed the snow from the shoreline in upper left to get rid of the distraction.

About This Image
This image was captured in middle Tennessee while I was visiting family. I did a little last minute searching to find a decent place on the lake for a view west. Fortunately the spot I mapped also had some structure on the shore. Twilight is one of my favorite times for photography, and this evening was no exception. I was the only one around, and it was completely calm and silent.
Feedback Requested
I’m not sure I started with an idea of the mood I wanted to create. I think it is more accurate to say I wanted to convey the feeling I had while enjoying the silence. I’m curious as to whether I conveyed that feeling of peace. Any other comments also welcome.

Thank you for your comments and I much appreciate your feedback. What you mention above is snow along the shore in the area of the foreground. I have waffled back and forth about whether to get rid of that or not. My innate desire to keep things as real as possible makes me hesitate, but I think I agree with you in this instance that the image would be improved without the snow.
Jonathan, this is a nicely quiet and inviting view. The sunset colors are a fine plus with their lack of drama adding well to the peacefulness. I like how you’ve used the two fallen trees to point into the distance. There’s a strong natural vignette focussing attention on the distant horizon. It’s an artistic suggestion, but I do wonder about some mild dodging of the darker tones to broaden that vignette. That would let the viewer do more visual exploring, particularly along the shoreline on the left and bottom.
Thank you for your feedback. I debated back and forth about the LRC, and actually had some of it burned down. I removed most of that, and added a little dodging as well. I think I like the result better.
This is exactly what I imagine when somone says “silence”. The twilight hour and longer shutter speed add to the mood. I’m not sure about the branch but I like the leading line of the rocks and ice-edge. Well done.
