Jim, my initial reaction was that this is interesting, It looks like desert terrain except for the colors. The colors are pleasant (hard to go wrong with orange and blue). All in all, I think it’s effective.

If you hadn’t titled it Rimrock Abstract, I would have thought it was an aerial shot of an active lava flow. In light of that, I’m thinking a bit more contrast might be interesting. Also, perhaps darken the light area in the upper right quadrant and even out the luminosity across the frame. Maybe even flip it around to give it more energy (so the orange tendrils are moving up, not down)? Here’s my thought. In any event, it’s well seen!

Don and Bonnie, Thank you for your helpful comments. Bonnie, I did not think of flipping it. I like it, but when I look at it, I keep wanting to flip it back because that is how I remember it when I was shooting it.

Jim, this totally looks like an aerial view…of course from your perspective, it is…just not using a drone. The shapes, colors and textures look good in the original. I also believe that in an abstract often the goal is to create a feeling, not necessarily show a natural area, pushing the saturation is okay. Bonnie’s saturation push creates more drama. You’ve got an aerial view of an location that few will see.
