About This Image
Standing at the beach of Santa Barbara at the north coast of the Azorean island of Sao Miguel was an intriguing experience. Due to the volcanic origin of the Azores, the dark rock faces and the dark sand of the beach make for a strong contrast with the turquois waves and white spray. All this was accompanied by the mighty roar of the surf.
