I’ve noticed that when I watch/read critiques of others’ images, there have been times when I’m thinking “crop/clone/de-emphasize that,” with that being something in the scene I feel is a distraction, and I’ll be darned if the person doing the critiquing doesn’t say, “I love that branch/rock/person/whatever,” or they say they just aren’t bothered by it. In the end it’s a matter of personal preference and vision;

This is absolutely true and it all depends on who the judges are. I can only say from my point of view whereas I know we’ve had massive disagreements on the judging panel over similar things in both years! You have to make your own choices and eventually those choices will become part of your personal style…
