I’ve probably posted more than my share of White-crowned Sparrows, but they are so accommodating it’s hard not to photograph them and I liked this for the open beak showing the tongue and the notch in the lower beak, which I don’t recall noting before.
This is a fabulous photo. The detail and sharpness are both excellent. My only suggestion, since the photo is so sharp, is to perhaps crop a bit from the bottom to help clarify the area around the bird’s beak. I thought at first she had caught a bug. Then I read you text and realize that is her tongue. A bit of a crop from the bottom may help put more focus on her head and beak.
Wow Allen, great view of the open mouth! Interesting see this perspective. I like the surroundings also. Very natural and well presented. I’ve never found these guys to be as cooperative for me when I find them down here in the winter. Nice frame.
I love it as presented, Allen. Until I zoomed in, it looked like a spider in its mouth which added a very interesting bit of “what’s going on” to the image.
What a fabulous “singing portrait.” Ok, could be chirping or whatever… but the action and moment caught is wonderful.
I would agree to mayb crop up, but for the reason of eliminating the yellow needle near the bottom edge. Actually, cloning it out might work better. But if you were to crop from the bottom, I might be inclined to shave a little off the right as well. Of course that’s just a personal preference and not necessarily a fix.. Actually, I quite like the details in the pine bows - AND that the ones in the BG are soft, allowing the bird to take center stage.
