Description
another piece of Clear Creek Granite. This was once again sculpted by the water over millions of years. In fact this is from one of the lowest layers and oldest layers in the Grand Canyon. A remarkable place that is very difficult to get to by foot or by raft. besides the water, ice probably had a little bit to do with this also at some of the outcropping is not completely smooth.

this was taken with an old speed graphic, I lugged it down the Grand Canyon of the Colorado River On a raft trip in a waterproof container. 2 1/4 by 3 1/4 inches 120 roll film roll film back. Scanned into Epson 2450 scanner using ViewScan software. Processed in Photoshop.
David, I like the image as presented here with one small change. Maybe just a very small crop from the bottom up to eliminate the shadow area there. Or maybe a content aware in that area to blend that spot more evenly. That’s not any nits at all, just a different look. Again, the scene is very nice as presented…
David, this image shows us what an amazing artist Mother Nature can be! Good seeing on your part. The various elements are positioned perfectly. I especially like the curve on the right that embraces the lower and upper rock formations (I’m not sure what to call them!). The exposure and colors look good. I’m not sure, but it might be interesting to very slightly increase the overall saturation. And the area of the curve above center looks a little cloudy, perhaps from the light. In Photoshop you could create a new layer above it and gently (using a brush set at 1 or 2%) burn it in. Another option would be to (again) very gently try dehaze. If you aren’t familiar with these tools, let me know. I’ll be glad to give you some tips.

David, this is a fascinating rock formation with some interesting colors and textures. Including the lighter colored piece towards the top add extra interest. The mix of flowing lines and shapes makes for a nicely dynamic view.
I love this image, David. The smooth curves and shapes are just lovely. I also like the lack of scale. If it weren’t for the inclusion of brown rock toward the top, this could be anything from a few inches to several miles in extent.
