Shrouded Color

Image Description

To me this image definitely has an ethereal quality. The brightly fall colored trees and golden foreground sea grass are muted by the early morning fog. The presence of the stunted tree trunks to the center left also provides a sense of mystery to the scene as well as the ones in the nearly obscured distance.

Robert,

I love how the trees that are in the BG just barely come through. It really adds to the mystery of the scene.

I agree, thank you, Youssef. Robert

Hi Robert,
You are right, this image definitely has an ethereal quality about it. I can almost feel the cool dampness of this lovely scene. I am loving those FG grasses; did you happen to take any images of just them? While I quite like this as is; and I am not trying to muddy the waters for you; I can also see a twofer in this scene. For my tastes the stars of the show are the FG grasses and those lovely autumn colors. I hope you do not mind, but here is a rework with what I was thinking. I cropped some of the left side as I can’t really see anything in the fog. I also lifted the exposure a little. This is just my opinion of course and may not be your vision for this moody scene.

Thank you, Ed. No, I don’t believe I took any close ups of just the grasses, although they would have had abstract possibilities the way I look at things. I see where you are coming from with your crop. Robert

Robert, this is very nicely mysterious, with the colors of the trees showing through and contrasting with the cattails in the foreground. The stump is a good addition as it help balance the openness of left side with the colorful trees. I am struck by the magenta tint in the fog on the left.

Thank you very much, Mark. I like the stump as you said as a balance as well as leading the eye to perhaps detect the very faint colorful tree and second stump in the distance heavily shrouded in the fog. Robert
