About This Image

Shot at dawn at Lake Clarke National Park in Alaska. We didn’t have much time to set up before this lone bear appeared on the horizon. Just managed a single shot.

Laura, the bear shows up very well against the gentle pastel colors in the sky. The gravel bank with it’s sameness fits well into the sense of quiet.

Hi Laura! The contrast between the pastel sky with the single bear really brings out the quiet feel. Terrific impromptu shot!!

The lone bear and “not much else” works very well with this week’s theme Laura. I really like the color you caught here too.

@Mark_Seaver @John_Williams @holly1 My warmest thanks for your positive feedback.

Laura: Besides the aforementioned color palette the light on the bear is killer also. A simple but effective comp and glad you were able to take advantage of the opportunity.>=))>

Thanks Bill. I learnt a lesson. You always have to have your camera settings locked in :joy:

Great shot. I love the color of the sky and the lighting on the bear and the gravel. I also like the framing with plenty of room for the bear to wander. Definitely a very peaceful feel to the image.

P.S. Lake Clark is such an amazing and beautiful place, great that you were able to spend time there

I’m spoiled now. Everywhere else I travel - in Tweedsmuir and Kutzymazeen Grizzly Sanctuary
The bears are so much more skittish.
