So Let's Rumble (1st year male orchard oriole)

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Orchard orioles are uncommon to rare in our area and are outnumbered by Baltimore orioles 6 to 1. I have been waiting several years for a photo of a young male. The plumage is very unique and I feel that this certainly will catch the eye nicely. This male was fighting with several Baltimore orioles and decided to show me that he was the boss.

Specific Feedback

I may want to add a little more to the top, but I am satisfied with the comp as is. How do you like it?

Technical Details

Z9 180-400mm f4 with 1.4 TC Engaged (1/3200 sec at f10, ISO 4000, fill flash at -1.7ev) DeNoise, Shadows & Highlights, Crop for Comp. Enjoy!

Hi Jim
The vertical wing, eye contact, feather coloring, and detail bring the viewer’s eye right to the Oriole head. Very nice.

Hi Jim. Love the colors and wing position. Just a great pose. Pleasing background too. Well done.

Jim ..lets use the word perfect ..

Great pose and that bib and mask really make this guy look tough. While it’s a bit tight on top, my attention goes to the face and doesn’t ever linger on top, so I think it’s a non-issue.

Thank you @Peter_Morrissey , @Allen_Sparks , @Balan_Vinod , and @Dennis_Plank . He’s still around, but no sign of other orchard orioles around this year…Jim
