These guys are deep in the rainforest, and it was very dark. I was happily surprised how well DxO noise reduction rescued this (Thanks, Dennis!)

I need to redo my shot of this species, Sandy. It’s from our 2022 trip before I started using that software. and was heavily backlit like this-not too surprising. You did a really fine job on this one with the background leaves still bright but excellent detail in the owl.

Excellent Sandy. Love the heads-on view of the owl and the details are well recovered. Bird contrasts nicely with the BG and I like the subject placement in the frame.

Outstanding lighting, detail, and pose. You were so lucky to have such good conditions and some help from software.

Very unique owl, nicely presented. I like the crop and the BG is realistic-looking without overpowering the owl. Nice job!

What a cute owl Sandy. Nice lighting and detail in this one as always. Noise? What noise?

Wonderful portrait, Sandy. Very intriguing bird and you captured it very well.

Great look at this owl. Nicely composed and a pleasing setting.

Hi Sandy
I am glad you found DXO, I am always amazed at how well it handle 10 & 12k ISO.
I will probable never get to Costa Rica, so thank you for the lovely Owl.

@peter
DxO is truly amazing - I’m going back to re-work a lot of higher-ISO images . Occasionally, I add a tiny bit more sharpening in Topaz, but I’m very impressed.
Thanks for the nice comment… :slight_smile:
