Description
When we go to southern Louisiana, it is always a treat to see the roseate spoonbills there. They are one of the larger birds there and tend to dominate over the smaller species. I chose to show these guys perching, sparring, and flying.

Spoonbills are very worthy photo subjects with their bright colors and unusual bill morphology. A very nice series with crisp subjects and spot on colors. The last one is especially nice with outstretched wings and soft dappled BG. I also like the two versions of spoonbill sparring–nice action of bill clomping bites. You might want to mention that these birds are fast fliers compared to other large waders, which makes them a challenging capture for sure. Well done and these are fun to look at…Jim
A wonderful spoonbill series, Allen. It looks like you had a good trip. We got back from ours yesterday evening and I’m just starting to download images for culling, so it may be a while before I find something worth posting. I particularly like the interaction images.
Wow, Allen, what a great series. The color and detail are outstanding. I especially like the first flight shot.
Hi Allen
Really love this series of Spoonbill photographs.

Gorgeous!! Wonderful detail, color and BGs.
Southern Louisiana is a place I would love to go back to – we’ve had several fun trips there but the chances for carefully planned photography I had hoped for alway managed to fall short.
